Canadian swimming, from the official source
Canadian swimming information is spread across standards pages, PDFs, meet packages and results sites. This guide shows where each official source lives and how to tell which one applies to your swimmer's meet.
Last reviewed . Official sources can change after that date, so open each one before relying on it.
Key answer
Official organization and meet documents always control. This guide points you to the current official source for each question and explains how the sources fit together; it does not replace them.
Guides
- How to find Swimming Canada's current time standards
Check Swimming Canada's standards landing page for the current version rather than a PDF found in search, and why season, event, course, category and meet rules all matter.
- Which rules decide whether a swimmer qualifies for a meet
The meet package for a competition can override or add to general rules. The order to read sources in, and the qualifying questions to check for every meet.
- Where to find Canadian swim meet information
Where a meet's calendar entry, event page, meet package, psych sheet, heat sheet, live results and final results are usually published, and why they are often in different places.
- SCM and LCM: short course and long course metres
SCM is a 25 m pool and LCM is a 50 m pool. Why times differ between them, and why the meet package or governing body controls whether and how a time from the other course counts.
What this guide does
- Points you to the current official source for each question.
- Explains which document controls when more than one applies.
- Records when each source was last reviewed, and flags older versions that are still online.
What this guide does not do
- It does not reproduce qualifying times, rankings, records or results.
- It does not list meets or name swimmers.
- It does not decide eligibility. The meet package and the governing body do.
- It is not a results database or a standards calculator.
